(Takes place in the sanctuary at our Glendale campus)

J is for Jesus in a Manger!

                                          Keep the CHRIST in CHRISTMAS!

This past week our 1 year old friends learned about the birth of Jesus! We read stories about the Christmas story and the birth of Jesus! The kids loved playing with our nativity set and holding all the different people, like baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the Shepherds! During circle time, we sang some favorite Christmas songs such as "Away in a Manger", "Silent Night", and "Go tell it on the mountain!" We played some of these on the ipad so the children could watch baby Jesus sleeping in a manger! Some of the kids would even say "shh night night!" So sweet!
We also did several crafts to get us ready for the coming of Jesus and Christmas day! We made Christmas trees by tracing our hand and then decorating them with pom poms and sequins! We also made lights with our thumbprints, Christmas ornaments and even Jesus in a manger with our handprint! The children LOVED to play in our Christmas sensory bin this week!! I put tinsel, pom poms, bows, paper shreds and toy candy canes all in the sensory bin for the kids to play with! They had a BLAST! Since the weather is beginning to get so cold, we spent a lot of our time fine-tuning our gross motor skills by playing in the gym with new toys! Take a look below at our fun week and stay tuned for what we have planned next week!

P is for Polar Bear!

Last week we learned all about... POLAR BEARS! With the weather finally starting to get cold, I thought why not learn about polar bears to segway into our winter months and most importantly CHRISTMAS! We made several polar bear crafts such as polar bear handprints, paper plate polar bears, finger-paint with shades of blue paint and much more! We developed our gross motor skills by playing a fun polar bear game! I would say phrases such as "Polar Bear, Polar Bear spin around, Polar Bear, Polar Bear touch the ground" and then the kids would do it! It is pretty amazing how even at such a young age and while not able to fully verbally communicate yet, they understand what you are saying!
We learned about polar bears by reading about them and voting on which book to read each day! The kiddos even got to put their hand in ice cold water to see what it would be like if we lived in the Arctic with the polar bears! Take a look at our fun week!
